The purpose of Vulcan Community Charities is to encourage and promote educational, historical, cultural and charitable programs through the staging and promotion of carnivals, community events, parades and other activities related to the unique history and heritage of the city of St. Paul and the St. Paul Winter Carnival.
The policy of Vulcan Community Charities Inc (VCC) is to accept, for consideration, qualifying community related grant applications. Applications may be submitted by established organizations. Grants are approved specifically for the purpose of promoting educational, historical, cultural and charitable programs at various locations within the State of Minnesota, including schools, hospitals, senior care facilities, and other public places, through the staging and promotion of carnivals, parades, and other events related to the unique history and heritage of the City of St. Paul and of the St. Paul Winter Carnival.
All grant applications are reviewed equally, however, preference may be given to a request related to participation in activities that occur within the City of St. Paul and are part of the St. Paul Winter Carnival.
Organizations submitting an application must demonstrate an effort to raise part of the needed funds from other service organizations, donations and fund raising activities. If you have not attempted to raise funds from other sources, be prepared to explain the reason at the grant presentation meeting.
The information requested on the grant application must be completed in full. Additional information and facts may be submitted on separate formats and attached to the application. When requesting funds for a purchase of services and equipment, three (3) bids must accompany the application. If three bids are not submitted explain the reason why the criteria is not being met.
Applicants are required to attend a quarterly meeting to present their grant request and answer questions from the VCC Board of Directors. Organizations that request funds must have a representative of the applicant at the grant presentation. Grant applications must be submitted thirty (30) days prior to the VCC quarterly Board of Directors meeting. Meetings are scheduled in the months of January, April, July and October. However the Board of Directors can meet at additional times as needed. Grant applications will be considered only at a scheduled Board of Directors meeting.
Applicants will be notified by letter with the decision of the VCC Directors. If the grant is approved, a letter of acceptance of the grant must be received by VCC from the organization awarded the grant prior to the distribution of funds.
